Pressure Assist Toilet vs Standard Gravity Toilet: What’s The Difference?
There are basically two main toilets: gravity-flow and pressure-assist.
The gravity-flow toilet, a simple form of toilet comprising water within the toilet tank, is the most common. A pressure-assist toilet is distinguished from a gravity-flow toilet in one department – the interior of the toilet tank.
If you look at a gravity-flow toilet tank, water is the key element. If a pressure-assist toilet tank is opened, an adjacent smaller tank will be apparent. So it’s kind of a small tank located inside a big tank.
Pressure-assisted toilets provide a tank inside another tank to generate a significant volume of air pressure within tanks. This pressure causes more water to linger within the toilet tank, resulting in a more effective flushing output and a cleaner toilet in the process.
Pressure-assist flushing toilets are more widespread in commercial applications, such as restaurants, malls, and hospitals. But now they’re also becoming common in family residences.

Pressure-assisted toilets are ideally adapted to flushing down solid waste – all thanks to the compressed air pressure inside the tank. Price. Pressure-assisted toilets are more costly than standard gravity-flow toilets. While a typical gravity-flow toilet can be bought for between $120 and $300, a pressure-assisted toilet can cost as much as $500.
Difficulty with flushing. The flush lever on the pressure-assist toilet must be moved more forcefully than on the gravity-flow fixture. This will make it impossible for a small child or a vulnerable adult to work.
